Patagonia...
Hearing the name will awaken feelings of longing and wanderlust. There are very few regions on earth that excite as many fantasies as Patagonia: it stands for glaciers, unlimited range … in other words, a paradise for people passionate about nature.
Patagonia comprises the provinces of Neuquén, Río Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz, south of the 38th parallel, down to Tierra del Fuego. Chile’s border lies in the west and is formed by the Andes Mountains. There is a lot of rain in this region. You find beech groves in the mountains and large lake districts.
To the east, Patagonia stretches to the Atlantic Ocean. Here are barren, treeless table mountains. Oil and natural gas have begun to be extracted in this region. It is sparsely populated and there are more sheep than people living there.
Spanish is spoken in Patagonia, as it is in all of Argentina. This fact, together with the singularity of the region, will make your stay to a very special experience. Our partner schools are in the two very pleasant towns of Ushuaia and Bariloche.

Ushuaia is the southernmost town in the world:
Situated on the banks of the Beagle Canal, you will find Ushuaia surrounded by the ocean, glaciers, and mountains. Visitors associate this picturesque town with nature and adventure.
One tourist attraction is the legendary “Carcel del Fin del Mundo” (prison
at the end of the World) with its museum (Museo del Presidio). Visitors can
gaze at wax figures of the famous criminals who have served their sentences
there.
Another attraction is the “Ferrocarril Austral Argentino” (train
at the back of beyond).
Visitors are particularly impressed by the nature found on the island. For
adventure tourism, the summer season is the ideal time of year. Trekking, mountaineering,
fishing, boat trips, and biking tours are a very special challenge in Tierra
del Fuego.
Excursions to the Beagle Canal, to Cape Horn (Cabo de Hornos) and into the Antarctic are possible.
Bariloche:
Bariloche lies right on the banks of Lake Nahuel Huapi, in the Andes, and is a very pleasant place. The moment you arrive, it feels like being in a European alpine town. Snow-covered peaks, dense forests, and crystal clear lakes emphasize this impression, which attracts many tourists. That’s why Bariloche has become one of Argentina’s most important tourist and entertainment centre.
In summer, sunshine and agreeable temperatures are convenient for long walks along the lakes. In Bariloche people are also very interested in adventure sports like trekking, boating, rafting, and diving. In winter, the whole attraction is the well-equipped resorts for winter sports.
