City Info
Spain | Denia
Denia is a pretty and charming place on the Mediterranean Sea between Alicante and Valencia. This area has many advantages: 322 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 18° C or 65° F, among others. There are about 33 000 permanent inhabitants and many more during the summer. They are from many different nations and come here to enjoy the summer season in this sunny area.

Denia has more than 20 kilometres of coast. In the north the beaches are sandy, and in the south they are jagged and covered with rocks, like the beach of Las Rotas with its numerous great and beautifull bays and spots. Every year, the European Union awards the blue flag to these beaches for their cleanliness and good equipment.
This part of the country is full of memories of former times and ancient cultures.
They remind us of Denia’s Arabic, Roman, Carthaginian, and Iberian past.
Numerous old buildings can still be admired, and they are a testimony to the
perpetual march of different civilizations through this area. Denia’s
splendid castle towering the town is the most prominent of them.
Denia is within easy reach by car or train. There is an exit from the A7 highway, and from Ondara (exit 62) there is a connecting road to the N332. A narrow gauge train connects Denia with Alicante, the capital of the province. It is only 58 kilometres to Benidorm.
From Denia there are daily connecting ships going to the Balearic Islands: cosmopolitan Ibiza, beautiful Palma de Mallorca or Menorca, peaceful Formentera, and all the remaining islands.
