City Info
Spain | Madrid
Madrid is the capital of Spain. It has about 4 million inhabitants and is located right in the centre of the country. This favourable geographical position allows you to reach every other part of the country within a 5 hours’ drive. Madrid is full of contrasts; the old part of the city with its ancient character is combined with modern architecture. Here you find Spain’s most important state buildings, and it is the financial and political centre of the country where important decisions and events take place every day. The prime minister and the royal family also live here.

In Madrid, you find a good balance between respect for history and tradition, and modern life. It was one of the first cities in Europe to have many trees and parks. Only one hour’s drive away is the ski resort ‘Navacerrada’.
All through the year there are exhibitions, soccer games, concerts, operas, and ‘Zarzuela’; there are also theatres and cinemas, etc. Enjoy the lively nightlife with young people dancing through the night in the many discos. Madrid guarantees eventful leisure time and fun.
